How to set up an automation

5 min readΒ·Beginner

Automations let CRMit handle repetitive admin for you, so the same task does not need doing by hand every time. You choose an event that starts it, then the steps that run. Here is how to build your first one.

  1. Open Automations

From the CRMit menu on the left, select Automations. This opens the automation designer, where you build and manage your automations.

  2. Create an automation

Start a new automation. Give it a clear name so you can tell your automations apart later, such as "Thank new customers" or "Chase unpaid invoices".

  3. Choose a trigger

Pick the Trigger, the event that starts the automation running. For example, a new customer being added, or an invoice becoming overdue.

  4. Add any conditions

Add conditions if you want the automation to run only in certain cases. For example, only when the invoice value is above a set amount. If you do not need any, you can skip this step.

  5. Choose the actions to run

Add the actions the automation should carry out when it runs, such as sending an email or updating a record. You can chain several actions together to build up the full flow.

  6. Turn it on

When you are happy with the flow, click Publish to make it live. From then on, the automation runs on its own whenever the trigger fires.

Tip: Start with one simple automation and build from there. Once you see it working, you will spot plenty more small jobs you can hand over to CRMit.

What's next

With one automation running, tidy up the settings behind it and build a form to capture the details it needs.
