How to design a PDF template

5 min read·Beginner

A branded PDF template makes your invoices, quotes and other documents look professional and consistent. You choose a document type, style it to match your brand, then set it as the default. Here is how to design one.

  1. Open PDF Designer

From the CRMit menu on the left, select PDF Designer. This opens the visual designer, where you build your document templates.

  2. Choose a document type

Pick the type of document you want to design, such as an invoice or a quote. Each type can have its own template, so they always match your brand.

  3. Edit the layout and branding

Adjust the layout to suit you, and set your brand colours and fonts. Move sections around so the most important details stand out.

  4. Add your logo and the fields you want

Add your logo, then place the fields you want to show, such as the customer details, line items and totals. Only include what your customers need to see.

  5. Preview it

Use the preview to check how the finished document looks with real content. Tweak anything that does not sit quite right before you save.

  6. Save it as the default

Click Save and set the template as the default for that document type. From then on, new documents of that type use your branded design automatically.

Tip: A branded template makes every document look professional. Set it up once and each invoice and quote you send looks the part with no extra work.

What's next

With your template set, make sure your company branding is up to date and put your new design to use on a real invoice.
