A quote is a priced proposal you send before doing the work. When the customer accepts, you can turn it straight into an invoice without retyping anything. Here is how to put one together.
Open Quotes from the menu and click Create Quote. This opens a blank quote for you to build.
Select the customer, optionally link an opportunity, then set the quote date, the quote expiry date and the quote status (this usually starts as Draft).
Add each item with a product, description, quantity, rate and VAT rate, just like an invoice. Totals are calculated for you as you go.
Add quote notes that print on the quote, plus any private notes for your team.
Click Save, then send the quote to your customer. Update the quote status to Sent so you can track it.
When the customer accepts, convert the quote into an invoice in a single step so you do not have to retype anything.
Tip: Set a sensible expiry date so customers know how long the price holds, and keep the quote status up to date as it moves from Sent to Accepted.
Once your quote is out the door, here are a few related things you might want to set up.
